Sandi Peak: 3,618' elevation gain, 15 miles.

Living in the Albuquerque area, it only made sense to hike the La Luz trail to the top of Sandia Peak.  For this particular summit, I wasn't necessarily planning to make it to the top, rather just try out my new hiking gear.  We planned to hike Long's Peak in Colorado, so I wanted to make sure my gear and myself were up to the task!

I actually didn't take many pictures on this hike, nor did I pay much attention to the time.

The trail is easy to follow and climbs from the pleasant arid landscape at the start.

The trail progresses into more wooded conditions, crosses over a small stream and over a moderate boulder field.

The hike ends at this sign, although it is possible to walk along the Crest Trail to the restaurant, ski area and even ride the tram back down.  Of course, it wasn't working this day! Hike complete and time for the return trip down!
